Two more positive COVID-19 cases in WV

Two new positive coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) were recorded in Western Visayas on Tuesday, bringing the total cases in the region to four.

According to Dr. Marlyn Convocar, Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH WV CHD) regional director, the two new patients travelled to Metro Manila.

The third case is a 61-year-old female from Iloilo City who had travel history and exposure to Manila.

“The patient showed signs of fever, cough, and diarrhea and is admitted to a hospital,” Convocar said in a press conference on Tuesday,

The fourth case is a 45-year-old male from Jamindan, Capiz province who had travel history to Manila and manifested fever and cough.

“The fourth case is diabetic and is under maintenance condition. He is currently admitted in a health facility,” Convocar added.

The two new cases are in stable condition, she furthered.

The first two positive cases were detected in Bacolod City and Iloilo province.

Meanwhile, the health department has already informed concerned local government units and health facilities to help conduct contact tracing of persons who may have been exposed to the two new patients.

“The DOH-CHD is advising who may have close contact to the positive cases to fully cooperate in the contact tracing activity. The DOH in cooperation with the LGU will delegate personnel to help conduct the contact tracing,” Convocar said.

Close contacts are defined as those providing direct care with the positive patient without personal protective, staying in the same closed environment with the positive patient, and travelling with close proximity (one meter or less) in any kind of conveyance within the 14-day period after the onset of symptoms.
