Two more rebels yield in Guihulngan

BACOLOD City – More members of the New People’s Army (NPA) returned to the folds of the law in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental with the recent surrender of another two rebels last Friday.

The surrenderers were a woman, who was the alleged chairman of the Kaugma-on Guihulngan City Chapter, and a man, who was an alleged member of the SDG Platoon Central Negros 1, Komiteng Rehiyon – Negros, Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor, a press release from the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde) said.

The two NPA personalities surrendered to the members of the City Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (CT-ELCAC) led by Mayor Carlo Jorge Reyes, along with the joint teams of 62nd Infantry Battalion (IB) and Guihulngan City Police Station.

Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd IBde commander, commended the aggressive efforts of the Guihulngan City Task Force- ELCAC, along with the law enforcers in the area.

Pasaporte also lauded the decision of the two rebels, who courageously returned to the folds of the government.

At present, seven rebels have already surrendered to the task force.

Authorities earlier claimed that more surrenderers are expected to follow with their intensified anti-insurgency campaign in Negros island.
