BACOLOD City – Two men riding on a motorcycle were killed while four others were wounded in separate road accidents in Negros Occidental over the weekend.

In Bago City, Leonel Gumiling, 30, of Murcia town died while his motorcycle driver-companion Mark Ryan Gumolon, 25, of La Carlota City was injured after they were hit by a truck at Purok Weber, Barangay Don Jorge L. Araneta last Friday.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, city police chief, said Gumolon ran over the sugarcane that were scattered on the road, causing them to overlap the opposite lane and ram into the truck driven by 47-year-old Rolando Abello.

Malong said Gumiling was declared dead on arrival at a hospital while Gumolon was taken to a hospital here.

Malong said the truck driver was released around 12 p.m. Saturday, pending settlement of both parties.

Meanwhile, in Manapla town, Ramiro Diosana, a businessman from Bacolod City died, while three others were wounded in an accident in Barangay I-A last Saturday.

Police Lieutenant Leonel Adolacion, deputy police chief of Manapla Municipal Police Station, identified the fatality as Ramiro Diosana.

Wounded were tricycle driver Christian Guanzon, 33, and passengers – Nestor Dela Pena, and Breget Guadalupe.

Adolacion said Diosana, who was allegedly speeding, reportedly overtook an unidentified vehicle and hit the rear part of the tricycle he was tailing.

“Nag overtake siya pero na alang-alang siya, pag balik niya sa lane, nasungkit niya ang tricycle,” he added.

Adolacion said Diosana passed away at a hospital later that day, while the three others suffered minor injuries.

The tricycle driver will be released from police custody after the lapse of the 18-hour reglementary detention.
