TWO nurses and a boat skipper were rescued after their motor banca capsized off an island in Carles, Iloilo.

Geilyn Joy Bandojo and Maisel Jane Sernicula, who are both employed at the Department of Health (DOH) and assigned at Rural Health Unit of Carles, were rescued shortly after the capsizing incident around 3:00 p.m. of Sept. 11, 2019.

Also rescued was Joemarie Francisco, owner and skipper of motorbanca MMK.

Police Captain Francis Albert Fortunado, Carles police chief, said the incident happened near Bancal Port, reason why members of the Philippine Coast Guard and another boat immediately responded and reached the two nurses and the boat skipper.

The boat reportedly capsized due to a squall, locally known as pugada.

The three came from Naburot Island in Barangay Buenavista to administer immunization when the incident happened.

The three were deemed in good condition after a medical examination.
