Two persons were arrested for illegal possession of firearms in separate operations in Iloilo province.
Rene Flores, 48, a resident of Barangay Hamod, Batad, Iloilo and Oliver Romano, 37 of Barangay Tabucan, Barotac Nuevo were nabbed under different circumstances, though.
Flores was collared at his home following a police search operation 6:50 a.m. of June 3.
Members of Batad Police Station seized a handgun from Flores during the operation.
Aside from the caliber .38 revolver loaded with five ammunitions, the team of Lieutenant Ma. Rosela Buenvenida also recovered additional 14 ammunition and five caliber .38 ammunition shells, five caliber .45 ammunitions and a caliber 5.56 ammunition.
Meanwhile, Romano was arrested 4:40 p.m. of June 2 for brandishing a handgun in public.
According to reports, Staff Sergeant Alejo Dillo of Barotac Nuevo PNP, was driving his motorcycle when someone flagged him down along Barangay Tabucan.
Rexther Berguia told Dillo that a gun-wielding man blocked their way and confronted them.
Dillo, together with Bergius, went to the scene and saw Romano holding a homemade 12-gauge shotgun (pistol-type).
The two suspects are now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
