Two riders were killed after their motorcycles collided evening of September 23, 2021 in San Rafael, Iloilo.

Police identified the fatalities as Jeffrey Buhayan, 19, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, San Rafael, Iloilo and Romy Rodriguez, 41, of Barangay Catan-agan, San Enrique town.

Rodriguez was with his backrider, 20-year-old Charles Nerie Hautea of Brgy. Poblacion, San Rafael. The duo came from Barangay Poblacion and were on their way to Rodriguez’s house when the incident happened.

As they were navigating the Poblacion village around 6:30 p.m. of Thursday, Rodriguez allegedly overtook a tricycle but failed to evade a motorcycle that was running in the opposite direction.

Buhayan and Rodriguez suffered head injuries while Hautea suffered wounds on his left leg.

They were taken to Gov. Niel D. Tupas District Hospital for treatment but both drivers were declared dead on arrival.

Last week, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) stationed policemen along the stretch of Barangay Aripdip, San Rafael following numerous reports of motorcycle riders doing dangerous driving stunts.

Prior to that, a rider was also killed on September 12 after he collided with a sedan.
