A Finnish national who was about to marry his Filipina girlfriend was one of the two fatalities in a vehicular collision evening of July 11, 2020 in Miag-ao, Iloilo.

Police Lieutenant Lunelyn Talamillo, Miag-ao PNP deputy chief, identified the foreigner-victim as 42-year old Jukka Samuli Tikkanen.

The other victim was Martin Millama, 29, a construction worker residing in Barangay Palaca, Miag-so town.

Talamillo said the Finnish national’s fiancé claimed the victim came from their house and was on his way to NT Hotel at Barangay Igtuba, Miag-ao when the incident happened.

The woman said Tikkanen has been in talks with her family on their wedding preparations.

On the other hand, it was assumed that Millama came from work and was on his way home when his Motor Star motorcycle (license plate 9731XY) collided with Tikkanen’s Kawasaki motorcycle.

The two were driving on opposite lanes along Barangay Mambatad around 9:30 pm Saturday when the collision happened.

Talamillo said their investigation indicated that Millama encroached the foreigner’s lane.

Millama’s motorcycle was totally wrecked because of the impact.

The two drivers, who wore crash helmets, were thrown off their motorcycle.

The two were rushed to the hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
