A man allegedly committed suicide Friday morning in Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.

The 27-year-old beach guard was found dead around 1:40 am inside his house in Sitio Cagban, Manocmanoc, Boracay.

Investigation indicated that the victim went home at 12 am and made a short video call with his girlfriend.

More than an hour later, the victim’s family saw his body hanging from the ceiling.

The family believed there was no foul play in his death. The reason for the suicide remains unclear.

On Thursday, a 20-year-old man was reported to have committed suicide at New Washington town also in Aklan.

The incident happened Thursday morning at the victim’s house in Sitio Martabana, Barangay Poblacion.

Police account said Jay-Jay’s 59-year old grandmother discovered the incident when she was about to bring him lunch.

The woman allegedly tried to open the house’s front door, but it was locked. She began calling his name but received no answer.

The grandmother went at the back portion and made her way inside the house.

She then rushed to the bedroom and saw his body hanging from the ceiling.

Initial investigation showed that apart from the rope marks on his neck, the victim had other injuries on his body.

There was also no sign of forcible entry in the house.

The Philippines had passed Republic Act 11036 (The Mental Health Law) to address growing concerns on mental health and suicide incidents.

The law proposes a mental health policy that aims to enhance integrated mental health services, the promotion of mental health services, protection of people who use said services, and the establishment of a Philippine mental health council.
