Two teenage boys were arrested for their alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Alias “Toto,” 17, and his friend, alias “Kerwin,” 19, both residents of Zone 5, Barangay Sambag, Jaro, Iloilo City, were apprehended around 3:31 a.m. on May 2.
Operatives from the Iloilo City Police Office – City Drug Enforcement Unit (ICPO-CDEU), along with the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6 and Iloilo City Police Station 3, arrested the suspects after they sold a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP8,000.
Police also seized three additional sachets, two knot-tied plastic packs of suspected shabu, and several non-drug-related items.
Captain Ryan Christ Inot, ICPO-CDEU team leader, said the confiscated drugs weighed about 135 grams and were valued at PHP918,000.
Toto admitted to working as a “runner” for an individual identified as Werjun, who allegedly instructed him on when to drop off the illegal drugs.
He said his first transaction was on April 28 and he was paid PHP1,000.
He was caught during his second delivery.
Toto claimed he was lured into drug peddling to help support his parents.
Meanwhile, Kerwin had a previous drug-related arrest in 2023 following a buy-bust operation.
He admitted to using illegal drugs in the past but claimed to have already stopped.
The two suspects will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
