ROXAS City – The Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Capiz Police Provincial Office and Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CaPENRO) arrested two truck drivers for allegedly transporting gravel and sand without pertinent papers Thursday morning at Brgy. Tanza here.
Noli Danieles, 53, of Barangay Tabuc Sur, Panitan town; and Leonardo Begalan, 42, of Barangay Linateran, Panay were caught driving their two dump trucks loaded with gravel and sand without permit.
They were released after payment of corresponding fines.
Danieles and Begalan were 2 of the 19 individuals who were recently arrested for alleged illegal quarrying from Nov 8 to 11, 2021 by the Task Force Kabalaka 6K together with Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of the Capiz Police Provincial Office.
The arrested persons from Sigma, Dao, Panit-an, Maayon, Panay, Pontevedra, Dumalag and Roxas City were caught violating Ordinance No. 011, Series of 2017 or the Revised Revenue Code of Capiz.
One of them had no permit to quarry while 18 have no delivery receipts to transport minerals.
Meanwhile, the CaPENRO launched recently the “Palit-Basura” program which coincided with the 3rd Provincial Environment and Consciousness Month in November.
Atty. Emilyn Arboleda-Depon, acting CaPENRO-Head, said the program aimed to mitigate the proliferation of waste in the surrounding, particularly plastic, and non-degradable materials.
The eco-bricks materials gathered could be exchanged for household essentials such as vinegar and cooking oil, among others.
