BACOLOD City – A two-year-old girl died after she drowned in a water container at their house in Barangay Nabulao, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
Executive Assistant Dionilo Bogtae, head of the Public Safety and Sipalay Emergency Assistance and Rescue Services (SEARS), said the father was supposed to bathe his daughter when he left her for a few minutes to check the victim’s younger sibling who was crying.
When the father returned, he saw his daughter inside the container, which was almost full of water.
Bogtae said the victim might have climbed up a stool and played with water, causing her to fall into the container.
“Una ulo niya sa container, nabudlayan pa gid siya siguro magsaka tungod man sa size sang container,” he added.
Bogtae said the father rushed his daughter to a hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival.
Bogtae said the victim’s mother is a vendor and was not at home when the incident happened.
