ROXAS CITY, Capiz—Typhoon “Kristine” has impacted approximately 3,793 farmers in Capiz.
Reports from the Provincial Agriculturist Office (PAO) indicated that around 3,128 hectares of riceland were affected, amounting to PHP 76 million in damages.
Raoul Perez, PAO officer-in-charge, stated that 14 towns in Capiz have met the requirements for assessing the extent of the typhoon’s damage.
In its final report as of October 31, 2024, the PAO noted that 3,128 hectares of riceland were affected, including 357.57 hectares that were completely destroyed and 2,770.72 hectares that were partially damaged.
Additionally, approximately 31 hectares of cornfields were affected.
Perez said the PAO is prepared to distribute rice seedlings and fertilizers for the second cropping season.
The towns and the number of farmers affected by the typhoon are as follows:

Perez added that their agency has an allocation for Calamity Crop Insurance and promised to expedite assistance for the beneficiaries.
He also called on rice, corn, and high-value crop farmers to apply for insurance to prepare for future calamities. He urged them to submit the necessary documents to the Provincial Agriculture Office and the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation for prompt assistance.
