The De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers’ fiery campaign continued after sweeping the Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws, 25-19, 25-21, 25-18, in the ongoing UAAP Season 86 Women’s Volleyball on March 23, 2024, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

With the momentum-boosting victory, the Lady Spikers just raised their UAAP record to seven wins and a loss and extended their winning streak to five straight games.

It was no other than reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) Angel Canino who delivered the goods for the Lady Spikers after firing 15 points during the three-set encounter.

Canino was heaven-sent once again for DLSU after sparking their much-needed offensive run in the first set to pull away and grab an early 1-0 lead.

The Canino show was also in full display in the second set as the high-flying outside hitter dominated the spiking category after finishing a barrage of hits orchestrated by main setter Julia Coronel.

Aside from her offensive prowess, the Negros Occidental native also tallied 10 excellent receptions and capped it off with two service aces.

Meanwhile, Coronel, who is slowly picking up her rhythm in running the plays for DLSU, dished out 16 excellent sets and two blocks.

The Taft twin tower duo of Thea Gagate and Alleiah Malaluan connived for 18 points, 10 and eight markers, respectively, while Jyne Soreño added seven points.

“I would say na hindi pa po ako satisfied sa performance namin, but this is a good start for me and the team coming to the second round. Pero ayaw ko pong huminto sa naging performance ko today,” DLSU team captain Coronel said after the win.
