The United City FC (formerly Ceres-Negros FC) is set to go to Uzbekistan for their matches in the AFC Champions League.
Stephan Schrock, Bienvenido Marañon, and the rest of the Philippines Football League (PFL) champions will be joining heavyweight squads like Kawasaki Frontale of Japan and the famous Beijing FC.
The Filipinos will try to pull off an upset against the powerhouse teams especially against Kawasaki who are the current J-League champions.
United City will be in Uzbekistan from June 25 to July 11 as announced by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The Champions League will be observing a different match format due to the COVID-19 pandemic and already scrapped the home and away options for the teams.
All matches in all groups will now be played in just one venue as part of the health and safety protocols imposed by the international football body.
Aside from the group where United City belongs to, Uzbekistan will also host Group H consisting of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors of Korea, Gamba Osaka of Japan, Tampines Rovers of Singapore, and Sydney FC of Australia.
