Universal Robina Corporation (URC), one of the leading food and beverage companies in the Philippines, has initiated the construction of a state-of-the-art production facility in Malvar, Batangas.
This new plant is not only a testament to URC’s innovation in manufacturing processes but also reflects its commitment to environmental sustainability.
Irwin Lee, the President and CEO of URC, elaborated on the advancements the Malvar plant will embody: “This mega plant will feature state-of-the-art manufacturing technology – from the way it will be constructed all the way to how it will be operated.”
The development of this facility marks a significant move for URC as it gears up to launch a range of new, high-quality products.
Projected to span over 30.7 hectares, the plant’s construction will roll out over the next decade and a half, eventually providing employment to approximately 3,000 individuals both directly and indirectly.
Lee emphasized the efficiency and sustainability goals of the project.
“The manufacturing lines to be installed in Malvar will incorporate design improvements that will further reduce material resource inputs, production wastage, labor efforts, and energy as well as water consumption.”
The Malvar production plant is set to integrate eco-friendly features such as solar power generation, utilization of natural lighting and ventilation, and systems for rainwater recovery and wastewater reuse.
These initiatives are in line with URC’s broader sustainability goals, which have seen the company increasingly adopting renewable energy sources across its operations in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.
“We look forward to building a healthy relationship with the people of Malvar. We also look forward to doing our part in economic development and nation building by providing jobs to the residents of Malvar, and the rest of the country, with the full build-out of this manufacturing facility,” Lee added, highlighting URC’s commitment to contributing to local communities and the national economy.
URC’s investment in Malvar is poised to bolster the Philippines’ manufacturing sector, reinforce the country’s commitment to sustainable development, and provide a significant boost to the local economy through job creation and community engagement.
