The veteran Uniwheeels Cars Display squad showed poise under pressure against the young guns of the Asialink/E&C Trucking, 84-80, to close their championship series in the JB Amateur basketball league, Elite I division.
The champs wasted no time in building up the early lead as they relied on the paint dominance of Mark Ceniza and King Belostrino, putting the Asialink big men in early foul trouble.
Despite the lead built by Uniwheels going up to double-digits, the coach Rodel Camacho led team answered with a run of their own led by the shifty Bajon and Dalumpines operating in the fast breaks.
Furthermore, the champs put more pressure on the Asialink hoopers as they ended the third frame with an eight-point lead, 66-58.
During the fourth, Asialink began to dictate the pace of the game through their lethal full-court pressure defense, able to blitz their scoring run with a fast 10-0 burst.
However, Ceniza took command and put Uniwheels on his back with a dominant fourth quarter outing with a series of and-one putbacks and dazzling isolation moves.
Ceniza also won the best player of the game, chalking up 22 huge points, 2 rejections, and 6 rebounds.
