It was what the Iloilo Kisela Knights wanted from start to finish: Consistency and strictly sticking to the prepared game plan.
After an impressive Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) Day 12, the Iloilo chess team topped it with another splendid board mastery to gain another sweep on Day 13 of the national tournament.
The Kisela Knights’ coaching team headed by Hyubs P. Canto made sure that minimal errors were made in preparation for the latter part of the prized tournament.
In their first match, Iloilo showed no mercy and crushed the Palawan’s Queen’s Gambit with a score of 18-3.
Like their past matches, the Kisela Knights also started strong in the Blitz category, winning six out of the seven total boards to immediately grab a 6-1 lead.
The onslaught continued up to the Rapid category where Iloilo replicated their performance in the Blitz, only dropping just one board to score a total of 12 points and went on to their second match with oozing confidence.
Meanwhile, in their second and last match of PCAP Day 13, the Kisela Knights banked on their momentum from the series against Palawan and prevailed over the Toledo City Trojans with a score of 14-7.
Gm Joey Antonio Jr., Cherry Ann Mejia, Dennis Bernas, and NM John Michael Silvederio provided the exclamation point and dominated in both categories for Iloilo.
