Ayanna P. Fuerte, a Grade 8 student of UP High School in Iloilo, received the Distinction Gold Award for the Junior Solo Category – Dance at the Asia Pacific Arts Festival held in Bangkok, Thailand recently.
A total of 116 participants coming from nine different countries took part in various competitions. Fuerte represented the PCD School of Performing Arts, the sole representative of Iloilo in the competition. PCD School of Performing Arts also won the Distinction Gold Award for the Senior Group Category – Dance, which was performed by 11 dancers. Fuerte was among them. The dance school ranked 1st runner up overall, taking home a total of two golds, three Distinction Gold Awards, and Top 3 and Top 2 overall performances.
The Asia Pacific Arts Festival exists to provide artists with a platform where they can showcase their talents and love for dance and music. By providing an avenue, it hopes to see art lovers become better artists. Participants also get an opportunity to learn from well-known trainers through workshops and meet fellow art lovers from various parts of the world. (Ms. Gerthrode Charlotte Tan-Mabilog Mabilog, IPO)
