UPV Beta Sigma Fraternity launches food drive; provides meals for stranded UPV students

The local chapter of Beta Sigma Fraternity in UP Visayas launched on Monday, April 20, Operation Big Brother Food Drive to help UPV students who were stranded in their dormitories due to the enforcement of community quarantine in Iloilo province.

The food drive aims to provide daily home cooked meals to students who are currently residing in different dormitories in UPV Miag-ao. This is to ensure that students can stay healthy and fit while in campus.

The fraternity raised funds through private contributions from its alumni members who were also former students of UPV. The group stressed that the food drive project will be conducted regularly as long as funds are available.

As of this writing, the fraternity already served three food runs benefitting dozens of UPV students and dormitory staff.  The local members of the fraternity prepared and cooked the meals and delivered the food packs to dorm residents.

Apart from the food drive project, leaders of the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity are also active in negotiating with the UPV administration to allow students to cook their own food in dormitories.
