To expand and hasten Iloilo City’s vaccination rollout, the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) has been tapped to serve as one of the five vaccination sites along with Ateneo de Iloilo, Central Philippine University (CPU), Iloilo Convention Center (ICC), and the University of San Agustin (USA).
UPV’s Little Theater and auditorium were utilized to accommodate recipients of the vaccines. With the assistance of members of UP Fight (composed of members of alumni associations iAmUPHi and the UP Alumni Association), and the UPV Health Services Unit, the university is extending its facilities for the city’s vaccination rollout until July 8, Thursday.
Site leader and Barangay Captain Reyland Hervias and Operations head Noel Panaguiton oversee the vaccination.
With the simultaneous opening of five sites last Monday, July 5, the city vaccinated 6,398 residents, including the 499 doses administered in UPV.
Based on the collected data until June 30, 2021, Iloilo City has administered a total number of 81,587 doses; 65,927 for the first dose and 15,660 for the second dose. (Charmie Saligumba, Division of Humanities)
