Dr. Philip Ian Padilla, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, along with UPV lecturer Prof. Alexander Porras, served as retreat masters for 18 local government units (LGUs) under the Department of Health (DOH)-6-UPV partnership’s Municipal Leadership and Governance Program (MLGP) at Damires Hills, Janiuay, Iloilo from Oct 3-6, 2022.
The initiative is in preparation for the MLGP Colloquium on Oct 14.
Mayors, Municipal Health Officers, Planning and Social Welfare Coordinators, Sangguniang Bayan (SB) members from Antique (Barbaza, Culasi, Patnongon, San Remegio, Sebaste), Iloilo (Igbaras, Pavia), Capiz (Cuartero, Dumalag, Maayon, President Roxas), Guimaras (Sibunag), Negros Occidental (Bago City, Himamaylan City, Isabela, Murcia, Valladolid) were part of the activity.
The retreat served as a preparation for them to attend the final MLGP event, the MLGP Colloquium, where the mayors will highlight their accomplishments and share their challenges during their leadership journey in the past three years. It enabled them to examine how their leadership skills were applied to address health inequities and for them to gain insight going forward to continue working towards social development.
The MLGP is under the Health Leadership and Governance Program under DOH-6, which started in 2015 in partnership with Zuellig Family Foundation and UP Visayas Foundation. (UPV-IPO)
