As the US Open nears, their main organizers are trying to improve their health and safety protocols once their bubble starts on August 31.
With the rising cases of COVID-19 positive patients in the US, some professional tennis players already confirmed they are withdrawing from the event, including women’s world no. 1 Ashleigh Barty.
“Working with our Medical Advisory Group and security team and the State of New York, we have developed a strong health and safety plan to mitigate the risk of infection within the contained environment comprised of the tournament site and player hotels,” the US Tennis Association (USTA) said.
However, with USTA announcing their safety protocols, they are yet to release it to the public including the US Open participants and personnel.
USTA then said that they are going to release their health and safety protocols “at a later date closer to the tournament.”
“We remain confident that our top priority, the health and safety of all involved in both tournaments, remains on track,” the USTA added.
