On the eve of the Grand Slam tournament 2020 US Open, one participant tested positive for COVID-19 and had to evacuate the facilities after the results came out.
The shocking outcome worried some US Open participants after his lab result was released with the players now playing tune-up matches in the Grand Slam bubble.
World no. 23 Benoit Paire tested positive and will have to follow state and tournament safety protocols and must undergo isolation for at least 10 days.
With the unexpected outcome, contact tracing has already been done to anyone who had been in contact with Paire.
The US Open bubble is also the same venue where the ATP and WTA Western and Southern Open usually takes place.
On Monday (Tuesday, September 8), the US Open will begin with no spectators allowed and is hoping for a smooth tournament run despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
