The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and its grantee, Central Philippine University (CPU), will extend their assistance to the Province of Guimaras to support compliance with the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP) under Republic Act No. 11285, also known as the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act.
This initiative was discussed during a courtesy visit by representatives from USAID-Energy Secure Philippines (USAID-ESP) and CPU to Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, M.D., on August 7, 2024, at the New Tourism Building in San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras.
The CPU-Energy Knowledge Empowerment in Western Visayas team, led by Engr. Caesar Rico Acanto, will conduct an orientation and training workshop in the province on August 23, 2024.
The workshop aims to enhance the capabilities of the Energy Efficiency Conservation Officers from the provincial government, the five municipalities, and Guimaras State University (GSU) representatives.
This initiative aligns with the national government’s mandate to reduce energy consumption in government entities by at least 10%. The training will focus on using the DOE-GEMP Online System for monitoring and reporting energy usage.
