USLS, Frey-Fil Ink Deal for Iloilo Campus

Marking a key milestone in its expansion to Iloilo, the University of St. La Salle signed a contract with Frey-Fil Corp. on April 7, the Feast Day of St. John Baptist de La Salle, at Gateway Hotel in Pavia.

The agreement officially named Frey-Fil as the contractor for the soon-to-rise USLS Iloilo campus.

University officials, led by President Br. Joaquin Severino Martinez FSC and Chancellor Minnie Chua, signed the contract alongside Francis Frederic Cruz, owner of Frey-Fil Corp.

Before the signing, the USLS delegation paid a courtesy call on Pavia Mayor Laurence Anthony Gorriceta at the Municipal Mayor’s Office.

They were welcomed by Vice Mayor Edsel Gerochi and other local officials as part of the university’s ongoing community engagement efforts.

“There is no real progress without challenge,” Martinez said during the visit.

“The challenge we face is not only local but global—the challenge of education,” he added.

“Addressing this means not just providing classrooms, but creating an ecosystem rooted in formation and values that empower individuals to serve their communities.”

The USLS Iloilo campus is part of a broader partnership with Property Company of Friends Inc., which contributed significantly to the construction of the academic building.

Designed by The SAGE Group under architect Duke Sage, the Pavia-based campus will primarily offer business-related programs.

These programs aim to address the region’s growing demand for accessible, high-quality education.

The university’s expansion into Iloilo marks a major milestone in its more than 70-year history.

It reinforces USLS’s mission to deliver Lasallian education across Western Visayas and beyond.
