USLS Presents “Rama, Hari” Ballet Musical

BACOLOD CITY – The University of St. La Salle, in collaboration with the Office of Congressman Kiko Benitez and the USLS Artists Hub, is set to stage the groundbreaking ballet musical Rama, Hari at the St. La Salle Coliseum on October 12 at 6 p.m.

Rama, Hari, a visual and musical masterpiece, showcases the collaborative work of five National Artists: Alice Reyes for direction and choreography, Ryan Cayabyab for music, Bienvenido Lumbera for the libretto, Salvador Bernal for production design, and Rolando Tinio for English lyric translations.

This production is celebrated for its unique blend of Filipino and English poetry, music that fuses classical, pop, kundiman, and Asian influences, and set design that transports audiences to settings as varied as majestic palaces, mystical forests, village squares, and even the underworld.

The performance features dynamic choreography, including breathtaking pas de deux, action-packed fight scenes, comic interludes, and grand ensemble pieces performed by some of the finest dancers in the country. The production’s artistry is further elevated by music that ranges from intimate solos to sweeping orchestral arrangements.

Rama, Hari is a rare treat for Bacolodnon and Negrense audiences, including faculty and students from various programs such as the Special Program for the Arts, Arts and Design Track, Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education, Bachelor of Education, Humanities and Art Appreciation classes, and Araling Panlipunan. Attendees will also include artists, arts enthusiasts, historians, and representatives from DEPED and NOPSSCEA.
