BACOLOD City – Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force action officer Rayfrando Diaz said the provincial government of Negros Occidental is eyeing to establish vaccination centers in tourism facilities to further increase the number of vaccinated individuals in the province.
Diaz announced that they are opening a vaccination center at the Magikland theme park in Silay City.
The capitol executive said that they are open to partnership with any tourism facility and are ready to provide medical frontliners and vaccines.
Members of the Provincial Incident Management Team and the Provincial Health Office staff led by Dr. Ernell Tumimbang recently went to the Magikland theme park, whose management is offering free tickets to vaccinated minors aged 12 to 17 who are Silay City residents, from Friday to Sunday, Diaz said.
For unvaccinated minors who will be accompanied by their parents, Diaz said they may avail of inoculation at their vaccination center to be set up at the theme park.
“It’s going to be a vaccinated-tourism program with Magikland,” he added.
Diaz said that they are also open to partnerships with the management of Campuestuhan Highland Resort in Brgy. Cabatangan, Talisay City, and other tourism facilities in the province, in terms of advocacy and campaigning for vaccination.
The provincial government is aiming to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19 by February next year, as they are intensifying their effort to vaccinate 1.4 million Negrenses before its self-imposed deadline ends.
As of Nov 15, the vaccination rate of Negros Occidental is at 30 percent of its target population.
