Vaccination continues amid ECQ in Iloilo City

The COVID-19 vaccination rollout in Iloilo City continues despite the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) status of the city.

Iloilo City government will continue its inoculation activities for the second dose of Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines from July 19 to 23, 2021.

For the Sinovac vaccines, the second dose will be administered on July 19, 21, and 23 at SM City Iloilo in Mandurriao district and Robinsons Place Jaro in Jaro district; and on July 23 at Megaworld Festive Walk Transport Hub, Terminal 2.

Persons eligible for the second dose of Sinovac vaccines are those who received their first dose last June 21 to June 23.

On the other hand, the second dose of AstraZeneca will be administered on July 21 to 22 at Megaworld Festive Walk Transport Hub, Terminal 2 and at SM City Iloilo on July 22. Individuals eligible for the second AstraZeneca are those who received their first dose last May 12 and May 13.

The Iloilo City government reminded residents who are set to receive their second dose of COVID-19 vaccines to follow their assigned schedule and vaccination site.

The city emphasized that residents need to bring valid ID, water, and vaccination card as the “No vaccination card, no vaccination” policy will be implemented.

Mayor Jerry Treñas has stressed that COVID-19 vaccination in the metro will continue despite its ECQ status, based on Executive Order (EO) No. 61 issued over the weekend.

“The 90,000 plus Ilonggos need to be able to go to the vaccination centers for their second dose,” Treñas said in a previous statement.

The mayor also reminded the public to religiously follow their schedule for their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine so that they will be fully vaccinated.

“I urge everyone to be aware of their schedule for getting the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Although receiving one dose does provide you with some protection, we don’t know the extent of the protection or how long it might last. One dose is not as useful as receiving the full second dose. With the transmissibility of the virus and the serious health risk it poses, the second dose is strongly recommended by health authorities. If you are contacted that you are due for your second dose of COVID-19 vaccine, please make every effort to go to the vaccination center,” he noted.

As of July 14, a total of 107,444 Ilonggos received their first dose of the vaccines while 17,020 have been vaccinated with their second dose. The number is 3.78% of the 450,000 target population that must be inoculated. (ERS)
