Van driver stabbed dead by co-worker

BACOLOD City – A van driver was allegedly stabbed to death by a co-worker in a terminal on Lopez Jaena Street, Barangay 31 here Saturday.

Killed was Raul Janagat of Tres Puentes, Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Police Captain Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 6, said that Janagat, who was unarmed, was allegedly attacked by Welbert Locsin, 29, of Barangay San Jose, E.B. Magalona town.

Bonilla said Locsin confronted Janagat after the latter reportedly sent him a threat via text message.

A heated argument erupted between them when they met at the terminal, which led to the stabbing episode.

Bonilla said Locsin stabbed the victim more than 10 times using a “fan knife.”

Locsin was arrested and will be charged.

Bonilla said Locsin lodged a complaint about Janagat’s threat at the police station earlier that day.

He said that the suspect and the victim had a misunderstanding a few days ago which sparked the tension between them.
