Families of household and office workers, and other establishments will be included in the COVID-19 inoculation efforts as the city continues to expand its vaccination program.
Mayor Jerry Treñas announced on Wednesday that the city will open its vaccination sites to families of workers employed in the city regardless of their residency.
Hence, drivers, household helpers, and other employees working in the metro may bring their families to the inoculation sites.
“During the COVID-19 team meeting today, it was decided that we will open all vax sites for the families of those working in the city who are not residents here – workers, drivers, house helps, employees who are not from Iloilo City may bring their families to our vax centers so that they can get protection from the virus,” Treñas said in a statement.
Aside from residents, the Iloilo City government has been continuously expanding its vaccination efforts to workers in the city and even residents from neighboring provinces.
Recently, district health centers in the metro particularly Barangay Sambag Gym in Jaro I; Balantang District Health Center in Jaro II; Oñate de Leon Covered Gym in Mandurriao; Katilingban Covered Gym in Molo; La Paz District Health Center Parking Area; Tanza Esperanza Covered Gym; and Arevalo Gym across Arevalo District Health Center; and Bo. Obrero Health Center were used as vaccination sites to reach more residents in the barangays.
As of Oct 16, 2021, 56.06% or 294,324 individuals of the target 525,000 population have been fully vaccinated while 64.26% have received their first dose of the vaccines.
The city hopes to achieve the herd immunity against the virus by December. (ERS)
