A vendor was arrested after police seized a cache of firearms and ammunition during a raid on the afternoon of Feb. 28 in Culasi, Antique.
Police identified the suspect only as alias “Denny,” 44, of Barangay Batonan Sur, Culasi.
Personnel from the Culasi Municipal Police Station, along with the 2nd Antique Provincial Mobile Force Company, searched the suspect’s house based on Search Warrant No. 2025-02.
The warrant was issued by Judge Josefina F. Muego of the Regional Trial Court Branch 13, Culasi, for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Recovered from Denny’s residence were two .38-caliber revolvers without serial numbers, a .45-caliber pistol without a serial number, a 12-gauge shotgun (serial number 1035377), and an improvised rifle-type shotgun.
Police also seized a magazine, live ammunition, and empty shells for various firearms, including:
- 12-gauge shotgun
- .38-caliber revolver
- .357-caliber revolver
- 5.56mm rifle
- .22-caliber revolver
- .45-caliber pistol
- .23-caliber revolver
Three holsters for .45-caliber pistols were also recovered.
Authorities said Denny had been on their radar since April 15, 2022, following a raid on an illegal cockfight in Batonan Sur, Culasi.
During that operation, police arrested seven cockfight enthusiasts and confiscated 24 game fowls.
Denny, the alleged game promoter, managed to evade arrest at the time.
