BACOLOD CITY – A vendor died and his brother was wounded after a pickup truck sideswiped their tricycle in Barangay Tapi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, last Monday.

Police identified the fatality as Melchor Baldomar, 59, of Himamaylan City. His brother, Romeo Baldomar, 57, was wounded.

Lt. Col. Roberto Indiape Jr., city police chief, said the pickup truck, driven by a 44-year-old soldier, was tailing the tricycle ridden by the two brothers on their way to the barangay proper. The pickup truck reportedly sideswiped the tricycle driven by Romeo as it overtook the vehicle around 8:50 a.m.

Melchor was declared dead at a hospital, while Romeo suffered abrasions to his left eye.

Indiape said both parties have reached a settlement.
