Vendors are allowed to sell at the Iloilo Provincial Capital grounds for now provided they don’t cause traffic in the area, Mayor Jerry Treñas said Friday.

According to the mayor, he initially instructed Public Safety and Transport Management Office (PSTMO) to regulate the vendors selling in the capitol grounds.

Akon gin suggest i-regulate man, waay na ta gani nagtugot sa sidewalks sa sini nga Paskwa. Aton regulate lang nga indi man mabudlay sa mga tawo nga nagalakat kag sa mga salakyan,” Treñas said in an interview.

Treñas said they will allow the vendors to sell in the capitol grounds for Christmas.

“For the mean time lang na anay sila subong but we will regulate them soon,” he said.

The mayor said the vendors should not cause traffic in the area and ensure that pedestrians still have walkable spaces.

Recently, the provincial government unveiled the redeveloped capitol complex with a multimillion-peso landscaping works.

Thousands of Christmas lights were also installed in the building and the grounds.

The area has become an instant Christmas attraction for families and visitors.
