An incumbent village chief in San Rafael, Iloilo, was arrested in a firearm raid afternoon of June 27, 2019.
Barangay Captain Remy Ajeco, 56, of San Dionisio village, was collared for possessing a high-powered firearm and ammunition.
Members of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Provincial Special Operations Group (IPPO-PSOG) and San Rafael Police Station implemented Search Warrant No. 19-31.
Police recovered from Ajeco an Uzi caliber .9mm machine pistol, two Uzi magazine assemblies, and assorted ammunition.
Police Major Jonathan Pablito, IPPO-PSOG chief, said they launched an operation following complaints against the suspect.
“We received reports that he was leading the conduct of rounds while brandishing a firearm,” he said.
Ajeco is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
