ROXAS CITY, Capiz— The new village chief of Brgy. Inzo Arnaldo here vowed to release the honorarium  of fellow village officials, including that of suspended punong barangay Einstein Okpura.

Kagawad Ervin Sicad said he will prioritize the release of the salaries of officials who have not received their pays for almost one year now.

Sicad said he will appoint Elma Borlado as the new barangay treasurer.

Sicad said his other priorities are to pay the electric and water bills of the barangay hall which were cut off by the Capiz Electric Cooperative (Capelco) and Metro Roxas Water District (MRWD), respectively.

He will also call a session to discuss some important matters following Okpura’s suspension.

Sicad is the son of incumbent Roxas City Vice Mayor Erwin “Nonoy” Sicad.

It was learned that the barangay council failed to conduct monthly sessions because of heated discussions between Okpura and the kagawads.

The kagawads merely discharged their function based on the committee assigned to them.

The Roxas City Council suspended Okpura for pulling out a locally stranded individuals (LSI) from a quarantine facility last year without coordination with the COVID-19 team.
