BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested a 68-year-old man Wednesday in Barangay Taminla, Buenavista, Guimaras, who was wanted in connection with a land dispute altercation in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

The suspect, identified only as “Jose,” is a resident of Barangay Efigenio Lizares in Talisay City.

He was arrested on two warrants for violating Section 261Q of Batas Pambansa 881, or the Omnibus Election Code, and for grave threat in relation to Section 29 of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Law.

The Regional Trial Court issued the arrest warrants on March 24, 2025.

Bail was set at PHP36,000 for the election offense and PHP120,000 for the grave threat charge.

Police Capt. Judesses Catalogo, public information officer of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said the suspect went viral after allegedly firing a gun in front of a woman recording the incident on video.

The confrontation occurred last month in Hacienda San Antonio Dos, Barangay Dos Hermanas, Talisay City.

Catalogo said the suspect was initially believed to be one of the blue guards in the area but was later confirmed to have no connection with the security personnel requested by a private individual.

He added that the suspect is listed as the third most wanted person in Talisay City.
