Visa, PHLPost Partner to Expand Financial Access

Visa, a global leader in digital payments, has partnered with the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) to enhance financial services for underserved Filipinos, particularly in rural areas and remote communities.

The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding to modernize PHLPost’s financial offerings, which include handling remittances, money orders for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and the disbursement of healthcare subsidies, social welfare payments, and disaster relief funds.

Visa will leverage its global payments network and expertise in digital innovation to help PHLPost streamline financial transactions, improve security, and expand access to financial services.

“We deeply honor the sacrifices of our OFWs—sila ang ating mga ‘Bagong Bayani’ and the backbone of many Filipino families,” said Visa Country Manager Dan Carlos. “They work tirelessly, endure homesickness, and make countless sacrifices to provide a better future for their loved ones. Whether paying for mortgages and bills or securing their children’s education, their contributions fuel the dreams of countless Filipino households. Through this initiative, we aim to ease their burden by streamlining financial transactions and reducing remittance costs, ensuring they receive the support and recognition they truly deserve.”

The partnership also aims to enhance financial literacy and business skills for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Visa and PHLPost will share best practices to make financial transactions more seamless, secure, and accessible for individuals and businesses alike.

PHLPost, which has long served as a vital link for Filipinos in remote areas and those abroad, is committed to bridging financial gaps through its extensive network across the Philippines. The organization plans to integrate digital payment solutions into its services to improve transaction efficiency and security while ensuring good governance.

“This collaboration with Visa is a significant step toward modernizing our financial services,” a PHLPost representative said. “By doing so, we aim to better serve our customers, especially those in underserved communities, and provide them with the financial tools they need to thrive.”

By combining Visa’s expertise in digital payments with PHLPost’s nationwide reach, the partnership seeks to empower underserved Filipinos and create a more inclusive financial ecosystem in the country.

For OFWs and rural communities, this initiative is expected to reduce remittance costs, improve access to financial services, and ensure secure and efficient transactions.
