BACOLOD CITY – Victorias Milling Company (VMC) has been stepping up its community service programs in several barangays in the cities of Victorias and Cadiz, and the town of Manapla.
Recently, with support from local officials, community volunteers, the 79th Infantry “Masaligan” Battalion of the Philippine Army based in Sagay City, and the 605th Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force in Victorias City, VMC extended assistance during surgical-medical-dental missions in communities within the mill’s constituency.
“We have been expanding our community programs to Victorias barangays surrounding VMC, and in Manapla, and at times also in Barangays Sicaba and Caduha-an in Cadiz City,” said VMC Administrative Officer, Atty. Eva Rodriguez.
Apart from the medical-dental missions, VMC, with the help of various law enforcement agencies, also provides haircut and feeding programs, she added.
“These services were well received and are much needed. Therefore, VMC decided to make these medical missions regular by conducting at least one each month in Brgy. Purisima in Manapla, and every other month in Victorias’ communities with special schedules for barangays in Cadiz City,” Rodriguez said.
With the school opening around the corner, VMC will also continue its reading enrichment tutorials every Friday for elementary students who need help with reading comprehension skills.
This “Catch-up Fridays” reading intervention program, conducted by volunteer VMC employees, started last school year.
Since 2021, VMC has helped thousands of residents and school children in their localities through wellness programs and enhanced education initiatives, including scholarships for high school and college students.
