Filipino volleyball superstar Joshua Umandal is set to dazzle the Bahrain volleyball fans.
After a stellar 2021 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship stint with the Rebisco club filled with members of the national team, Umandal turned heads with his explosive offensive performances that landed him a spot in the roster of the Bani Jamra team in Bahrain.
The Jamra club is currently participating in the Isa bin Rashid Volleyball League first division where Filipino stalwart Marck Espejo also played as an Asian import.
“Joshua Umandal departs today to Bahrain as he is chosen to play for Bani Jamra Volleyball Club,” said his agency Virtual Playground.
Before being selected as a member of the Rebisco team that flew to Thailand, Umandal was a member of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and also gained experience in the PH Men’s Spiker’s Turf with PLDT.
Umandal became the country’s third male volleyball star who will serve as an import overseas, following the footsteps of Espejo and Bryan Bagunas who are both in Japan.
“Gagawin ko ang lahat ng makakaya ko para masuklian ang binigay nilang tiwala sa Pinoy,” said the 22-year-old spiker.
