A construction worker was arrested in a police anti-illegal drug operation morning of Jan. 17 in Cabatuan, Iloilo.
The apprehension of Rex Señerez, 28, who is a native of Jaro, Iloilo City but is now living in Barangay Salacay, Cabatuan, led to the discovery of his other arrest warrant.
Members of the Cabatuan Municipal Police Station seized six sachets of suspected shabu worth P48,000 from the suspect’s possession following a buy-bust operation.
Captain Dionisio Estacio, Cabatuan police chief, said the suspect’s alleged illegal drug trade was known during their barangay fiesta celebration.
Someone tipped the police about Señerez’s alleged drug involvement.
Following his arrest, members of the Iloilo City Police Station 3 served the arrest warrant against him for frustrated murder.
ICPS3 operatives claimed that they had been hunting the suspect at the metropolis but got no information of his whereabouts.
It was gathered that the suspect had been involved in the robbery of a taxi driver when he was still a minor.
He was committed to a shelter.
A few years later, he was again involved in the same offense and was jailed at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility.
But reports said that his case was dismissed.
Señerez is now detained and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
