BACOLOD City – Authorities arrested an alleged member of the New People’s Army (NPA) facing frustrated murder and murder charges at Sitio Seraje, Barangay San Isidro, Toboso, Negros Occidental last Thursday.

Police identified the suspect as Roberto Pandacan, 70, of the said village. He is believed to be a member of Northern Negros Front, Kilusang Rehiyong-Negros, according to Police Regional Office (PRO)-6.

Police and the military served him two arrest warrants issued by acting Presiding Judge Danilo Amisola of Regional Trial Court Branch 58 in the city.

The court had set a bail of PHP200,000 for frustrated murder, while no bail was recommended by the court for his murder charges.

According to the regional police headquarters, Pandacan was reportedly involved in the ambush incident that was allegedly staged by the NPA in July 2009 in the town where three civilians died and injured six others.

On that same day, an alleged female rebel tagged in the said ambush incident was also arrested by virtue of arrest warrants in Talisay City.

The PRO-6 vowed to strongly continue its campaign against wanted persons for a safer Western Visayas.
