An alleged member of a robbery gang was arrested in the town center of Lambunao, Iloilo, on the morning of February 21.
Jeffrey Vicente, 25, from Barangay Bagongbong, Lambunao, was apprehended, but not for a robbery charge. Instead, Vicente, identified as a member of the Lebuna-Lego Gang, was taken into custody on a carnapping complaint.
The Lambunao Municipal Police Station, in collaboration with operatives from the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office – Provincial Special Operations Group (IPPO-PSOG), executed the arrest.
The suspect was captured under an arrest warrant for violating Republic Act 10883, also known as the New Anti-Carnapping Law of 2016, which was docketed under Criminal Case No. 23-90497.
Judge Nestle Amparo Go of the 6th Regional Trial Court, Branch 24, Iloilo City, issued the arrest warrant on December 11, 2023. The bail bond for Vicente’s temporary release was set at PHP 300,000.
Vicente is listed as the eighth most wanted person in Iloilo province.
Several members of Vicente’s family are currently incarcerated for their involvement in robbery incidents, especially in the province’s third district.
The suspect is now in police custody.
