Philippine Army troops overran an alleged hideout of the New People’s Army (NPA) in a hinterland village in Lambunao, Iloilo morning of October 9, 2021.
Members of the 12th Infantry Battalion also discovered war materials, personal belongings, and subversive documents at the abandoned lair in Sitio Turoturoan, Barangay Cabatangan, Lambunao town.
The soldiers also recovered a caliber 7.62 AK47 rifle, an anti-vehicle mine, a Honda EU10i inverter generator, a Canon digital camera, three rifle magazines, seven mobile phones, subversive documents with high intelligence value, personal belongings, and assorted automotive materials.
Brigadier General Marion Sison, 301st Infantry Battalion, said they found the area following a tip-off from civilians in the area.
“Our troops immediately conducted strike operation that led to the discovery of the arms cache,” he said.
Sison said that the hideout was allegedly used by the Baloy Platoon of the NPA’s Komiteng Rehiyon-Panay (KR-P), Central Front.
