Issues, not badmouthing.
Presidential candidate Senator Ping Lacson promised to “raise the level of discourse” in the upcoming 2022 elections.
He added that his team will focus on issues, not bashers, especially that fellow candidates have formalized their bids for the top executive post.
“Hindi kami magko-comment as much as possible sa makakatunggali namin. Ipe-presenta namin ‘yung sarili namin, kung ano ‘yung pwede naming gawin,” he said.
The 3-term senator assured that if ever there will be a similar incident in the future, it will be unintentional.
“Kung halimbawang napakumpara kami sa kanila, hindi sinasadya ‘yun,” he added.
Lacson explained that from the very start of his partnership with vice presidential running mate Senator Tito Sotto, they have already agreed to disregard bashers and to refuse from badmouthing fellow candidates, especially because most of their competitors are also their colleagues.
“‘Pag ganoon wag na lang patulan, ipaliwanag kung may dapat ipaliwanag, kung wala deadmahin na lang,” Senator Lacson said.
He reiterated their agreement when Vice President Leni Robredo joined the 2022 presidential race.
“Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III and I have agreed that we will rise on our own merits, and not to comment on our political rivals in the May 2022 elections. We will focus only on presenting ourselves and our competencies to the electorate in an effort to get elected based on our own strengths, and not on the deficiencies of the others. We will raise the level of discourse of the campaign and deal with issues rather than personalities. We intend to keep it that way, even as we encourage our supporters to follow our lead,” he added.
In another interview, Lacson said that their combined 80 years in public service should be enough to speak for what they can do.
“Pangunahin kasi sa amin, integridad at track record. Makikita naman natin sa ginawa namin sa aming public service ni Senate President.”
