A series of anti-illegal drug operations across Western Visayas in January led to the confiscation of around PHP 45 million worth of illegal drugs.
Records from the Police Regional Office (PRO-6) showed that different police units conducted 265 operations, seizing approximately 6,360 grams of shabu valued at PHP 43.2 million and 15,024 grams of marijuana worth PHP 1.8 million.
These operations resulted in the arrest of 344 suspected drug personalities.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) recorded the largest drug haul, confiscating PHP 17.76 million worth of illegal drugs.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) followed with PHP 11.73 million, while the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) seized PHP 7.2 million worth of illegal drugs.
ICPO ramped up its anti-illegal drug operations in connection with the Dinagyang Festival 2025 last month.
In terms of arrests, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOcPPO) logged the highest number, arresting 133 individuals, which accounted for 38.7% of the total arrests.
ICPO and BCPO followed with 81 and 73 arrests, respectively.
IPPO arrested 35 individuals, while the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) apprehended nine suspects.
The Aklan Police Provincial Office arrested seven, while the Antique and Guimaras Police Provincial Offices each recorded three arrests.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, Western Visayas police chief, said the figures reflect PRO-6’s commitment to eradicating illegal drugs in the region.
He encouraged PRO-6 personnel to continue building strong relationships with stakeholders and enhancing coordination with other government agencies.
“With their support, we can protect our communities from the dangers of illegal drugs and put behind bars those who choose to engage in illegal activities,” Wanky said.
