Borough Lasik Center (BLC), one of the country’s premier Lasik (laser vision correction) surgery centers, is helping Ilonggos see the best as it launched the first and only lasik refractive surgery center in Western Visayas on Monday.
“Iloilo is one of the fastest growing cities in Western Visayas. Being strategically located at the center of the region, we are seeing to give people from Panay and Negros Islands access to our services without going far just to have a Lasik surgery,” BLC head ophthalmologist and chief executive officer Dr. Ches Heredia said.
Heredia shared that he and Dr. Nathaniel Chan, an ophthalmologist in the Eye City-Iloilo and the current medical director of the Iloilo branch, once dreamed of having a Lasik center in Iloilo. Heredia and Chan were co-residents at St. Luke’s Institute of Ophthalmology.

With its high-caliber laser refractive technology, BLC offers eye correction for myopia or nearsightedness, hyperopia or farsightedness, and presbyopia or a refractive error that makes it difficult for individuals reaching middle age to clearly see distant and nearby objects.
BLC’s services require a suitability test and eye assessment to accurately diagnose the patient’s condition and determine the most appropriate treatment options. In cases where the severity of the eye condition is significant, surgery is considered.
Lasik surgery is advised for individuals who are aged 18 to mid-40 years old, as long as they do not have any existing eye diseases or conditions such as severe dry eyes or thin corneas and conditions like diabetes or autoimmune diseases.
BLC performs Lasik surgery in a quick 10-minute procedure, allowing patients to regain their 20/20 vision with an average recovery time of 24-48 hours.
To mark its official launch in Iloilo, BLC is currently offering free consultation and Lasik surgery starting at P55,000 all-inclusive until July 31, 2023.
