The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Civil Engineering announced that a total of 6,510 out of 15,075 examinees, or 43.18%, passed the Civil Engineer Licensure Examination given in eleven (11) testing centers nationwide in November 2019.
Carlos A. Hilado Memorial State College in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, ranked number 1 and Central Philippine University ranked number 7 in the category of schools with 50 or more examinees and with at least 80% passing percentage.
Five thousand nine hundred forty-three (5,943) out of 10,679 first takers or 55.65% passed. Five hundred sixty-seven (567) out of 3,829 repeaters or 12.9% passed. There are around 255 schools in the country offering BS Civil Engineering program.
In the Regional level, 7 engineering schools in Western Visayas out of 16, or 43.75%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than that of the national level; one (1) in Iloilo City, one (1) in Negros Occidental, one (1) in Bacolod City, one (1) in Iloilo, one (1) in Aklan, one (1) in Capiz and one (1) in Antique.
High performing engineering schools from Region 6with 50 or more examinees are Carlos A. Hilado Memorial State College (98% passing), Central Philippine University (80% passing), and University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (79% passing).
Four (4) out of 7 high performing engineering schools in the Region, or 57%, are state universities while 3 are private higher education institutions (PHEIs). The Region produced 403 passers out of 814 takers, or 49.51% passing percentage. This is higher than the national passing percentage.
There were 208 repeaters who took the said examination and 606 first takers. Twenty five (25) repeaters passed or 12% passing percentage, while 378 first takers passed out of 606, or 62.38 passing percentage.
On the other hand, the PRC Board of Fisheries announced that a total of 731 out of 2,101 examinees nationwide, or 34.79%, passed the Fisheries Technologist Licensure Examination given in eleven (11) testing centers in October 2019. Five hundred eighty-two (582) out of 1,389 or 41.9% first takers passed. One hundred forty-nine (149) out of 712 or 20.93% of re-takers passed.
The University of the Philippines-Visayas (UP-Visayas) from Western Visayas Region ranked number 1 at the national level among schools with 50 or more examinees and with at least 80% passing percentage. Thirteen out of 17 successful examinees who garnered the ten (10) highest places in the national level or 76.5% are from Western Visayas Region.
GardelXyza Sana Libunao from the UP-Visayas ranked number 1 among the successful examinees. Furthermore 12 other successful examinees from the Region garnered the ten (10) highest places in the national level: ten (10) from UP-Visayas (one rank #4, one rank #5, four rank #8, two rank #9 and 2 rank #10); and two (2) from Iloilo State College of Fisheries (one rank #2, and one rank #3).
The UP-Visayas is the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Center of Excellence (COE) in Fisheries Education. The Iloilo State College of Fisheries (ISCOF) is the CHED Center of Development (COD) in Fisheries Education.
In the Regional level, 6 fisheries schools in Western Visayas out of 9, or 67%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than that of the national level: two (2) in Iloilo, two (2) in Negros Occidental, one (1) in Aklan and one (1) in Antique.
High performing fisheries schools from the Region with 20 or more examinees are UP-Visayas (96% passing), ISCOF (80% passing), and Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (35% passing) in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
Five(5) high performing fisheries schools in the region are state colleges and universities (SUCs). The Region produced 178 passers out of 286 takers, or 62.245% passing percentage. This is higher than that of the national passing percentage.
There were 68 first takers and 36 repeaters who took the said examination. The first takers passing percentage is 68.8%. The repeaters passing percentage is 16.67%.
