Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, Western Visayas police chief, has literally packed his things and is ready to go.
But with two days left in his tenure, who will take over the helm of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6)?
“Hindi ko rin masabi,” Miranda said on Monday, Nov 8, 2021 following the turnover of command ceremony at the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
Miranda said that as long as there is no official order, no final decision, and if it’s not officially announced, his replacement remains uncertain.
One thing is definite, though, “mag-re-retire ako sa November 10,” Miranda said in jest.
He said that only PNP chief General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar could confirm his successor.
“Let’s wait for the announcement of the chief PNP,” he said.
Miranda said he has no idea of the names that are being deliberated to replace him.
“It’s always at the pleasure of the appointing authority,” he said.
There were reports that at least four officers are poised to replace Miranda – Brigadier General Robert Rodriguez, director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group; Brigadier Gen. Flynn Dongbo, chief of the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG); and Brigadier General Edwin Buenaventura Wagan.
Rodriguez, who is an Ilonggo, used to be a member of the PRO-6 command group and a former director of the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO).
