It’s on.
Deontay Wilder got what he wanted, a trilogy rematch between him and Tyson Fury, who snatched his WBC heavyweight belt in their last bout.
After getting stopped in the 7th round, Wilder found himself helpless after getting out-boxed by Fury the whole seven rounds, only to be stopped after being overwhelmed by Fury’s flurry after getting tagged in the ropes.
Promoter Bob Arum confirmed that the rematch will take place on July 18, 2020, the most optimal schedule for the fight.
“We received a letter from Wilder’s team on Friday night, and we agreed with the networks and the hotel that July 18 was the optimal date,” promoter Bob Arum said.
Right after the fight, Wilder clamored that one of the factors in his loss was his heavy costume that caused his legs to become fatigued just before the start of the match.
Wilder looked different inside the ring, moved slowly, and looked tired in the middle rounds especially when the third round started that surprised most who watched the fight.
Fury then unleashed heavy bombs that led to Wilder’s ear-bleeding that bothered him for the rest of the fight leading to a 7th round stoppage.
