The Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL), the first professional basketball league for Pinays, recently named Kiefer Ravena as their ambassador.
With the role entitled to Ravena, the current NLEX Road Warriors’ superstar embraced the opportunity and promised to help promote the sport to Filipinos all over the country.
“I’ve always been a big fan of women’s basketball. I believe that it is just as entertaining as men’s basketball. Now that I’m part of the WNBL as an ambassador, I have to represent the league in the highest form and the best way possible,” said Ravena.
Part of Ravena’s duties as WNBL’s ambassador is to help promote the league and helping the other future Filipina hoopers have a connection to the league.
“Hopefully, not only ‘yung mga bata na gustong mag-PBA ang mag-idol sa ‘yo, pati na rin mga Pinay ballers na bata pa lang, nangangarap na silang makapasok sa WNBL. Hopefully, I can be a role model to them knowing that they have big dreams too,” added Ravena.
NBL-Pilipinas chairman Soy Mercado and WNBL executive vice-president Rhose Montreal officially announced and welcomed Ravena as a part of the family in an online show on their Facebook page.
“It is really a welcome thing to have another ambassador in the person of Kiefer. Everybody knows how supportive Kiefer of women’s basketball,” said Montreal.
